SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK
Semliki National Park is located in the western region of Uganda in Bundibugyo district. It is managed by Uganda wildlife authority and known to be home to over 60 mammal species, over 400 different bird species and many butterflies.
The park is near the border of Uganda and democratic republic of Congo, it’s among the richest flora and faunal diversity in Africa. The park has two hot springs and one resembles a geyser by forming a 0.5 m high fountain. These hot springs attract a large number of shorebirds and provide salt licks for many animals.
Some of the secretes of Semliki National Park include buffalos, leopard, hippopotamus, mona monkey, water chevrotain, bush babies, African civet, elephants and etc. Some of the activities in the park include, Game drives, bird watching, nature walks, Batwa community visit and many more.
What to see and do in Semuliki National Park
Visiting the Hot Springs.
The park has many wonders and among those are the two hot springs, which are very hot to the extent of boiling an egg. One resembles a geyser by forming a 0.5 m high fountain. Once you reach the place you will prove that Semuliki National Park is one of the best places to visit in Uganda.
Nature walks
There are many Nature trails to follow in Semliki, it depends on the visitors’ interests. Each with different rewards, view different types of butterflies, walk in the forest and behold the baboons different types of Monkeys, and the eco system.
Bird watching.
Semliki National Park is among the best places for bird watching. The park has more than 400 bird species, including the lyre-tailed honey guide and some of these species are true forest birds, including the rare Oberländer’s ground thrush, Sassi’s olive greenbul and nine hornbill species.

Visitors are welcome to this park any time of the year but the best time is what is called the peak season months (dry season months) they include June, July, August, September, October, January and February.
