7 Days Gorillas & Cultural safari including wildlife viewing, and primates tracking tour in Rwanda and Uganda starts and ends in Kigali.After gorilla trekking in volcanoes,travelers can choose to go for chimpanzee trekking/ canopy walk in Nyungwe forest, and boat cruise on lake Kivu or else connect to lake Bunyonyi for canoeing and game viewing in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth national park.

Tour Summary

Day 1: Airport pick up and a transfer to Ruhengeri

Day 2: Gorilla trekking & Iby’iwachu Cultural Village

Day 3: Golden Monkeys tracking / Dian Fossey hike & transfer to Lake Kivu or cross to Uganda and stay at Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest; in case of Uganda, transfer to kibale Forest

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking. In case of Uganda, after chimps tracking transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Day 6: Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest; In Uganda case, do a game drive in the morning and a boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park

Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali. Kigali city tour optional

End of 7 Days Gorillas & Cultural safari

Day 1: Airport Pick up

On arrival, our representative will welcome and transfer you to Volcanoes National park. You will enjoy a spectacular scenic view of the Virunga Mountains en route . Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Adventure & Ib’iwachu Cultural Village 

Take your early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before commencing the mountain gorilla trekking. You will Spend at least an hour interacting with these awesome gorillas – take photographs as they feed or dramatically play around. After lunch visit Ib’iwachu Cultural Village – get immersed in real Kinyarwanda cultural practices! Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Hiking Hike

After your breakfast undertake a hike to Karisoke Research Centre to witness the graveyard for the famous primatologist – The Late Dian Fossey. Later transfer to Lake Kivu for relaxation at the beach and stay an overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest 

After your breakfast, you will then drive to southern Rwanda to Nyungwe forest national park. and the most renowned primates park in Africa, with over 13 primates species in one forest. Dinner and overnight stay

Accomodation: Top View Lodge or  one & Only Lodge Nyungwe

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking 

After breakfast transfer to the park headquarters to be briefed about the “dos and don’ts” while with the chimps in the forest. Your guide will transfer you to the starting point for Chimps tracking. Expect to encounter the chimps and many other primates like the black and white monkeys and various bird species along the trail. Dinner and overnight stay

Day 6: Colobus monkey tracking and canopy walk

Take breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by the park warden. Begin the forest hike along with other visitors and park rangers following well tented trails to the colobus monkeys.

In the alternative a canopy walk is another highlight worth undertaking. Dinner and overnight stay

Day 7: Kigali city tour and Departure.

Enjoy your breakfast and drive back to Kigali for your scheduled flight back home. Visit Murambi Memorial, Nyanza palace or Butare Museum enroute. In case you are to travel the following day, a city tour that includes visiting the handicrafts market and Gisozi genocide site would be optional.
