SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

The Samburu National Reserve is one of the best wildlife reserves located at the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river in Kenya. It covers an area of approximately 165 square kilometers and is part of a larger ecosystem that includes the Buffalo Springs National Reserve on the other side of the river. The reserve is named after the Samburu people, who are indigenous to the area.

Samburu National Reserve is known for its unique and diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and many species of birds. It offers visitors a chance to experience the stunning landscapes, rich culture, and incredible wildlife that Kenya has to offer.

Best time to Visit Samburu National Reserve.

The best time to Visit Samburu National Reserve is the months of June to September and January to February, as these dry season months and many animals come to Ewaso Ng’iro river to quench thier thirst and feed.

Samburu National Park with its best 5 that include the Somali Ostrich, Generuk, Gravy Zebra, Reticulated giraffe and Beisa Oryx are well spotted in the dry seasons when they find thier way to the Ewaso Nyiro river quenching thier thirst. Its sometimes gets dursty both in the Buffallo springs across the river and sometimes wildlife cross over to the buffalo springs side. It is recommended to stay minimum 3 nights in both Samburu national reserve and buffalo springs for maximum chances to see the best and cat sightings of this beautiful paradise in northern Kenya
